The principal function is to enable system to system transmission of information relating to licence renewal, replacing manual, resource-heavy processes.

The monthly renewal process is as follows:

• An electronic renewal notification file is received from the DVLA via EDI.
• The system compares the DVLA's list of vehicles with an extract from the user's database.
• The system identifies the exceptions that need to be investigated.
• Once details are confirmed and agreed, the renewal periods can be amended as necessary.
• Details of the list are finalised and an authorised signatory agrees the costs.
• An electronic file is sent to the DVLA containing licence renewal requests for the month.
• The DVLA return an electronic debit statement.
• The licence discs are then prepared as requested.
